What is SoftPhone?
 
A: SoftPhone is a PC-based phone service that uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology and software to make and receive calls over the Internet. VoIP technology is less expensive than traditional phone service, so the savings are passed on to you.

What do I need to run SoftPhone?
 
A:  Service Requirements

The following items are required to being using the SoftPhone client:
  A NetSpeak Account
  NetSpeak SoftPhone Software
  An Internet Connection (High Speed is recommended)

System Requirements

The PC onto which the SoftPhone client in installed must meet or exceed the following requirement:
  Operating System: Windows 98 or above
  Processor: Pentium 200 MHz or higher
  Memory: 128 MB RAM or higher
  Internet Connection: 33.6 Kbps or better (High speed recommended)
  Sound Adapter: Full-Duplex Sound Card
  Headphones and Microphone

Can I get SoftPhone without having an MTA?
 
A: No! Only accounts that have a MTA with their NetSpeak Service will be able to get the SoftPhone option. The MTA can NOT be dropped from an account to which SoftPhone had been selected as an add-on.

What is the difference between my 4-digit PIN and the Secure PIN?
 
A: The 4-Digit PIN is the one given to the customer at the time of activation and is used for voicemail and to get into myacount centre. The Secure PIN is a 16-digit alphanumeric code sent to the customer in the registration email that is generated within 24-hrs of signup.

What happens if I lose my Secure PIN?
 
A: Customer can call Customer Services on 811.

Why does SoftPhone not work with the Samsung Wi-Fi phone?
 
A: At this present time more development is needed to enable the Samsung Wi-Fi Phone to work With the NetSpeak SoftPhone. As soon as this development is tested and implemented we will let our customers know.
