Setting Up A DMZ
The steps below will help you to configure your modem to work with the Cable & Wireless Business DSL service and allow all traffic originating from the Internet to be directed to a single PC, server or Firewall. This setup is commonly know as setting up a DMZ or Demilitarized Zone

 
  • Open a web browser and enter the following http://192.168.1.254 in your browsers address field
     
  • You should now be prompted to enter a username and password
     
  • Enter the username admin and the password netopia
     
  • You should now see the Netopia web interface appear in your web browser
     
  • Click the expert mode option on the menu on left
     
  • Now click the Ok button to enter expert mode
     
  • Click on Configure in the upper Menu bar
     
  • Now click on Advanced
     
  • Click on the Default Server link to to setup a default server
     
  • Check Enable Default Server and enter the IP address (example 192.168.1.1) of the server or firewall you wish to be accessible from the Internet
     
  • Click the Submit button
     
  • Click on the yellow triangle in the upper right hand corner and then click the save and restart in the menu. The modem will restart in a few seconds
     
  • Finally ensure that the PC, Server or Firewall that you wish to receive all incoming traffic from the Internet is setup with a static IP address you have chosen in the Default server IP address field (example 192.168.1.1)
