Cayman will be the host of the 2nd ever ICC Americas Region Under-15 Championships beginning this Wednesday. The event hosts 4 teams in the ICC Americas Region, including Bermuda, Canada, The USA and Cayman and will feature 3 days of matches.
Cable & Wireless – loyal long-time supporter of Cricket in Cayman – continues their backing of cricket by being the Main Supplier for this official ICC event. Other supporters include Progressive Distributors and Tortuga Rum Co.
The matches will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at The Smith Road Oval and the Jimmy Powell Oval in West Bay. The opening matches will feature Canada and Cayman at Smith Road and Bermuda and the USA in West Bay. Attendance at the matches is free and the public is encouraged to come out and support these young cricketers.
“Cable & Wireless takes great pride in its support of cricket over the years. Our ability to be involved in a youth tournament of this nature that will feature such talented and thriving young people is indeed an honour for us,” stated Andrea Fa’amoe, Corporate Communications Manager from Cable & Wireless.
The event also features a fun day on Saturday when the championship teams will take part in exciting 10-Over matches. “The shorter version of the game is a great way for people to enjoy cricket as well as being able to see all the teams bat and field in a relatively short period of time,” explained National Cricket Coach Theo Cuffy. “We hope that people will support our young team and the visitors to Cayman by coming out during the Championships and for the Fun Day on Saturday.”
